Why are golf events bad investments?

Currently there are over 1.5 million golf tournaments operated annually in the United States and the profits for those events average around ($6K) six thousand dollars. Considering a tournament director needs to allow at least 6-9 months to properly plan -- the return on investment calculated in time, money and used resources is extremely low.
It does not have to be that way and there is an easy solution.
You may be tempted to argue or reject what I say in this report. That certainly is your prerogative. Some, maybe a lot of what you are about to read will contradict and challenge what you've been told, taught or conditioned to believe, industry norms and practices, and most of all what you observe other tournament directors doing.
I will only take the time to tell you this:
